# Does a technician install my oxio equipment?

No, **oxio equipment is self-install.** But setting up your oxio gear is super quick and easy!

[__Check out our step-by-step installation guide__](https://cdn.sanity.io/files/d3yz09lw/production/2983234ce1f90be047cae36a5c0d470a0094c25a.pdf) to get plugged in.

||| ☝️ Wait until your service is activated before plugging in your gear! Connecting early won’t speed things up and may cause setup hiccups.

If we booked a tech for you, it’s just to **activate the physical line** outside or inside your home so your signal is rock-solid.

* **Who they are:** Techs come from the local line provider in your area, not oxio directly.

* **What they do:** They check wall jacks, outside cabling, and signal strength. They don’t handle or plug in your oxio equipment.

* **Be ready:** Keep your phone handy and listen for the door! Techs may call from an unknown number before arriving.

* **Be home:** Someone 18 or older must be present during the appointment window.

* **Clear the path:** Make sure wall outlets and utility areas are easy to reach.

That means your service can be activated remotely! *We’ll confirm this with you via email*.

If you’re set for a remote activation, just wait for your activation confirmation message, plug in your gear, and enjoy.
