# Does oxio handle my old provider’s cancellation?

**No. You’re responsible for contacting your previous provider to cancel your services.**

Because your account contains sensitive personal information, most providers require the account holder to authorize the cancellation directly.

In most cases, **unless instructured by us otherwise**, it’s best to wait to cancel your current provider until *after* your oxio internet is active and running.

We want to avoid any “blackout” time during the switch as much as possible!

## ${color}[#000000](Does oxio use the same line as my old provider?)

**oxio equipment is connected to your home’s coaxial cable outlet.** If your old provider uses this same connection, they’ll need to be disconnected before oxio can be activated on that same line. If they use a different line (like DSL or Fibre), it should have no impact to your oxio connection.

## ${color}[#000000](Will my old provider’s equipment work with oxio service?)

**No.** oxio service requires our specifically provisioned modems to work. Ensure you return your old provider’s equipment to them directly to avoid any unreturned hardware fees!
