# What modems and routers does oxio use?

|| 👁️‍🗨️ All oxio equipment is certified by our CPE Vendor and undergo rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance and reduce the likelihood of receiving defective equipment.

The modem you receive will depend on your province and region. Some modem models may not be available depending on which network footprint you’re on. While it’s possible they may be available in your region later, it’s not something we can guarantee.

We continue to support discontinued modem models. In the event a modem replacement is necessary, we’ll send you a new model that is compatible with your plan's speed, as older models are not kept in stock.

### ${color}[#000000](Can I use my own modem?)

We can't use your personal modem or the one you had with your previous provider. For security reasons and to guarantee service quality, **our services will only work with a modem we provide**. This allows us to ensure every modem is approved and certified with the major network providers we partner with.

The best part? We lend you the modem for free, so there's no extra charge for the equipment.

||| **⚠️** Coaxial cable required! oxio modems don’t include a coaxial cable. To ensure your internet is ready on activation day, be sure to get an RG6 coaxial cable (6 feet or shorter to prevent signal loss) prior to your setup date if your home doesn’t already have one.

## ${color}[#000000](Our routers.)

Unlike with modems, **oxio customers are free to use their own router** if they wish. Check out our Help Centre article on [__using your own equipment__](https://aide.oxio.ca/en/article/can-i-use-my-own-modem-or-my-own-router-4pcozl/) for more info.

All oxio customers will receive one of the following routers from us: 

* Adtran 841
* eero 6
* oxio WiFi Pod

Don't worry if your oxio router isn't on the list above, we still offer full support for it! If you ever need a replacement due to a technical issue, we'll send you a new model, just like we would for a new customer. We don't keep older models in stock, so you'll always get our latest equipment.
