How do I set up a replacement modem?

Why did I get a new modem?

If you received a new oxio modem in the mail from us, it’s most likely for one of the following reasons:

  • 🔧 Technical Issue - If your old modem’s been giving you problems, our Tech Support team sent you this new modem to save the day!

  • 🔋 Time for an upgrade - Your current modem may be reaching its end-of-life, as it could be considered technologically obsolete and no longer supported. To ensure you have the best performance, you'll need the latest equipment.

How to set up your new modem.

  1. Contact oxio support with a photo of the serial number on the back of your modem. Our team will use this to activate your new modem and confirm that you received it.

If your new modem was sent due to an ongoing technical issue, contact Tech Support. Otherwise, reach out to Customer Care.

  1. Once support has confirmed your new modem is active, disconnect your old modem from power, unscrew the coaxial cable, and gently remove the ethernet cable.
  2. Connect your new modem by screwing on the coaxial cable and ensuring it’s tightly attached. Then, connect the power cable and allow 10 mins for the modem to boot up.
  3. Connect your router to the back of the modem with an ethernet cable. It should make a click sound when pushed in. Then, connect the power cable and allow 5-7 mins for the router to boot up.

… and voila! Your network should be back in action, better than ever.

☝️ Take a few mins to test everything out by doing whatever it is you usually do with your home internet. Browse, stream, scroll, download, learn how to bake banana bread. Whatever it is, we won’t judge.

Everything is good. What do I do with my old modem?
