Does oxio offer First Nations tax exemption?
Yes, we do!
Upon approval, oxio customers with First Nations tax exemption whose *service address resides within a reserve recognized by the Government of Canada may have taxes removed from their monthly billing.
👇 Here’s what required:
● Clear, high-resolution photos or scans of the front and back of your Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card (SCIS).
● Be the sole owner of your oxio account with your full name displayed on your invoices.
● An oxio service address located on a reserve recognized by the Government of Canada.
Ontario residents with an SCIS card who are “Off-Reserve” may be eligible for Ontario provincial tax exemption and can still apply. *

How to apply:
➊ Contact Customer Care and ask to apply for a First Nations tax exemption request.
➋ Provide and confirm the following with the Customer Care agent:
Full name associated with account.
Full service address.
Confirmation you are the sole owner of the oxio account.
Clear, high-resolution photos or scans of the front and back of your Secure Certificate of Indian Status Card (SCIS).
Our agent may send a PIN to verify your identity before setting up this request.
❕ A few things to consider:
Please allow up to 14 business days for processing time. We’ll follow up via email as soon as your request is approved or if there’s an issue that requires your attention.
Pending approval, monthly billing including tax must still be paid on time.
If your request is approved, invoices prior to approval cannot be retroactively changed to remove the taxes. However, you can submit a tax payment claim form through the Government of Canada website for these invoices.
If you transfer ownership of your oxio account or move to a new address, the tax exemption will be removed from the account without notice. In the case of these events, a new request may be submitted to our Customer Care team.
