What is the difference between coaxial cables and DSL/FTTN technology?
It’s quite simple, actually!
The oxio network is composed of both coaxial cable and optical fibre. This allows for a stable connection at the speed of your plan even during peak usage periods in the day!
FTTN technology (sometimes named DSL) gives varying speeds depending on your distance from the central office. Users may experience slower speeds during peak hours. It’s a little like playing the lottery; you never know what speeds you will get!
Here is the explanation in layman’s terms from our technical director:
In most cities, optical fibre runs all the way to the electric pole outside your residence. The last few meters to the inside of your place are then coaxial cable, giving you the best of both worlds. You get fast speeds and a reliable connection!
